a road trip to remember.

Radley and I spent the first weekend of August in the quirky, charming city of Santa Cruz for our first wedding anniversary. He grew up going to the beaches and the boardwalk with his grandparents, but it was my first time visiting the area and I absolutely loved it — mostly, I'll admit, because of the cozy bookstore downtown... and the ice cream parlor just down the street. (He gets me.)
It was one of the most special weekends we've ever shared together, the perfect mix of sleeping in and planned dates (all his doing!), and spontaneous, whatever-we-want moments. There was a Brazilian brunch, a fancy dinner, hours spent wandering aimlessly through the bookstore, and an early morning game of pool... because apparently that's our idea of romance.
Truthfully, though, there was so much to be grateful for that weekend. It was the sort of trip that you cling to in those final hours, wistful for its memories even as they're happening.

This has been one wonderful, unforgettable year, and I can't wait for so many more.
(And just for fun — a look back at our official wedding videos.)
