hopeful.

I usually don't turn to my blog to talk sports, but this week it feels sort of inevitable because everyone's pret-ty pumped around these parts! Thanks to the wild World Series (aka "Orange October") and the exciting football games these past two weeks, it's been quite the year to live in the Bay Area. Radley, of course, is a lifelong Niners fan, and I'm a Bears-fan-who-also-loves-the-Niners kind of fan. Plus, I've also loved (Jim) Harbaugh ever since he coached our USD college football team. (There aren't many NFL coaches who can say they played Screech's cousin on Saved By the Bell, either!)

I love sports for a lot of reasons — mostly, I'm sure, because I have three older brothers and a dad who wouldn't have had it any other way. But it's also because of the way teams can bring people together, the way they can rally the spirit of an entire city. I've seen it happen in Chicago, San Diego, San Francisco — even in Oxford, England during the rugby championships while I was abroad. There's just something about people coming together as fans, fair-weather or not. It builds hope, you know?

I feel a San Francisco takes it all kind of year!!!! We were down in Stinson Beach this weekend and everyone was decked out in Niners gear and it was a beautiful sight. :)

I had that hopeful feeling until the 49ers beat my Falcons! lol But it should be a fun Superbowl given the Harbaugh brothers are facing off against each other. Can only imagine the feeling in San Fran right now....enjoy!

I've just come back from the Australian Open and it was so cool to see so many tennis fans from so many different parts of the world come together!

This is what I love about sports too! People like to complain about bandwagoners or whatever, but I love seeing a city come together to root on a team. Love my Giants, love my Niners!
