a cerulean sky and certainty.

Sometimes you find yourself in a place so incredible, so awe-inspiring, that you can't quite catch your breath. Sometimes you find yourself standing on a rock, staring out across the bluest lake against the bluest sky—a wide, sunny stretch of cerulean blue lined with a horizon of snowy mountaintops—and a wave of conviction wraps itself around you: It worked out, you think. I'm here.

And you're not quite sure what it is or what it isn't (everything? that one thing?), but still, you have that rare sense of certainty that sometimes seems just out of reach. For a brief moment, you're sure. You're absolutely, positively, unmistakably sure about your place in this world.

And sometimes, a moment's all you need, isn't it?

Lake Tahoe is my favorite place to feel at peace. It just does something to you that I can't really place my finger on.
