radley's first post: what i've learned from marie

10 Things I've Learned From Marie

10. Obsess: Whether it's over a new food love (artichokes) or a great show, Laura has taught me that having an obsession isn't a bad thing. It keeps you excited over the small things, the things that most take for granted.

9. Be a good listener: And not just because Laura's a great talker. She's a good speaker, yes, but a great talker. Listening is something most people just don't do well, but if you aren't listening, then you can't help those who need it.

8. Arrive early: To work, to movies, and—most importantly—to the airport. Being late is not an option, and when it comes to the airport, 2 hours early means you're already 1 hour late.

7. Take pictures: Life is better when you have a chance to re-live all the most amazing moments. Posting pictures on Facebook is good and all, but getting to go through a great weekend's worth of photos on a Monday makes the work day a little less mundane.

6. Don't waste the sun: Get outside and soak it in. My mom taught be to get outside when it's nice, and Laura taught me to find the sun. It's like a magnetic attraction that will lift your spirits immediately.

5. Check the weather: "5 day forecast" used to be just another news phrase that meant nothing to me. I was a California guy, assuming the sun would find its way through the "marine layer." Now I know the hour-by-hour forecast every day, and it's been a lifesaver on more than one occasion.

4. Stretch: "Does a cheetah stretch before hunting its prey?" That was my typical response as Laura would do her post-workout stretches. Now I'm constantly stretching, trying to loosen up my ten-feet-long legs. I don't want to be a hunchback in twenty years.

3. Love too much: There is no such thing. The people you care about should always feel as if you love them. It's impossible to love too much, but we are sure going to try!

2. Read: The TV and Internet are amazing, but there's just something about a good book. It can truly change an entire day, week, or month for the better. Plus, it helps you fall asleep.

1. Be grateful: "What are you grateful for?" That's what Laura asks me every night. Never forget to be grateful for the people, events, and things that shape your world—even if it's just a look from the person you love that made your day.

This is just so sweet and adorable. I especially loved the last one. It's so healthy just to take time out of your day and remember all the things you have going for you in your life.

Oh, Rad-a-tat. How am I going to get any work done today if I've been melted in to a happy little puddle.

I loved this. Especially the : "two hours early means you're already 1 hour late"

Well, this is adorable. I'm both inspired and depressed because I know the answers wouldn't be nearly as sweet if I asked my husband this!
