today i believe...

... that the way you spend the first morning hours sets the tone for the rest of your day.

... that holiday decorations should come down when the season ends—part of the whole "out with the old, in with the new" spirit of January 1st.

... that a handwritten thank you card is just the only way.

... that there's something to be said for a brand new planner (and pens. and highlighters.)

... that being Mindy Kaling's best friend would be, well, the best.

... that wintertime watercolor sunsets are one of the best perks of life in California.

... that sequins are more than appropriate, even after the ball drops.

... that DVR can sometimes make TV feel sort of stressful.

... and that thanks to good friends, loving family, wise reflections, big hopes, and champagne, new year's eve might just be one of the best holidays.

That photo makes me want to move to California. Having that kind of sunset during the winter is surreal :)

Uh oh, I'm in trouble: the first hour of today has been spent in my pjs, laptop on knee, braless! Right, I'm off to get dressed immediately.

I do so completely agree with taking the tree down by January 1st and that there is something so inspiring about a year's worth of empty pages in a new diary or planner.

Happy new year!

Not sure about the 'how you get up sets the tone for the day', since usually I'm grumpy because I want more sleep! But I see your point.
And yep, Mindy Kaling would be an awesome friend. I love her book.
