light.

Life feels light lately—light in the best of ways. I'm trying to remember all the details of my days, to pocket this airy contentment so that I can hold onto it when things get a bit too heavy.

Of course, not everything's perfect. I fell flat on my face in the middle of the street last Monday—thank you, new heels!—and limped my way into the office, scratched and blushing. It's getting cold(er), the mornings are still dark, there are piles of laundry to wash, errands to do, research to finish, and on and on. But you learn to push through the everyday stresses, you know? At some point or another, you learn to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and call mom. Or work out. Or read. Or write.

The point is: At some point, you learn how to heal yourself from the smaller wounds. You learn what it is that restores you—what settles you—and start to take happiness into your own hands.

Life, then, starts to feel light. As if every moment carries something significant or special.
As if every moment becomes a memory you'll return to again and again.

I love this so much! It comes at a perfect time for me as well. I await as school begins, I hope life still feels light after the first day.

I completely feel the same lately. I'm being positive with my thoughts about life as well. Remembering to feel thankful for all the simple and pleasurable things in life. Great post, fantastic blog. :D

This is so wonderful and so true. There's nothing quite like the peace that happiness brings.

@Maria Thanks, Maria! And I'm sure it will :) Although, this is coming from me—a total school-loving nerd...

Yes, when the heart realizes that life is light and beautiful in its own way, I bet there's no better thing to realize.
Well written! :)

Hi I came over from someone else's blog this morning....just wanted to say that I loved this. It speaks to me and where I am in my own journey. Maybe age or wisdom and a lot of healing has made life feel light lately too - it's easier to brush things off than before. And you wrote about that beautifully. (o:
