Within weeks of moving here, a friend mentioned her new favorite workout: running the Lyons Street steps. (Thanks, Autumn!) As someone who's constantly looking for 1.) Any excuse to be outside and 2.) Anything to help me switch up my workouts, I was more than a little intrigued. Since then, these two hundred and eighty-eight steps have become a regular part of my week--partly, of course, for the exercise that comes from running up and down... but honestly? I mostly do it for the views.
The first set of flights...
The second set of flights...
The third set of flights...
Finally, the last set of flights...
And--oh how I love it!--the view from the top...
Without fail, I reach the top of the stairs and find that my mind is clearer, my heart is lighter, and colors themselves seem just a little bit brighter. (Never underestimate the power of endorphins.)
Do you have a favorite mind-clearing ritual?
Any interesting workouts?

Wow it is beautiful there, how lucky are you! :)
The 1st time I went to San Fran, we walked up to Coit tower (I think that's the name??)--the views up there were insane! :) And not to mention my legs were pretty tired afterwards :)
What an amazing view, wow!
Whoa, what a beautiful view. That would motivate anyone (read: me) to work out! Once my friend caught me texting during an ab-workout class. I can still hear her hissing, "Seriously?!" at me.
Mind-clearing rituals for me are yoga, long drives, or a book I can bury myself in.
So beautiful! I need to come to San fran
@The Magnificent Lou Hahaha texting during a class--I love it... (And may or may not have done it before myself.)
what a beautiful view!
Wow, what a gorgeous view! I'd be waayyy to lazy to climb those steps though. I don't know if it's worth it. =P

wow, i am a workoutaphobe, but i think that with those views, i would sacrifice my legs for that work out. i wish there was somewhere like that her in chicago.
Beautiful views! That would definitely motivate me for working out on those steps! Actually doing it though...that's another story. But I would try!
That's great that you do it though! Go you!
This is such a beautiful place to work out. I am so jealous!
All those stairs definitely look daunting, but the view would make it worth it! Wish I had that near me!
i want to kill those stairs. they are murderous. but oh the view from the top is so worth it.
Like your style. x

mind clearing ritual: its running. and actually i dont think running really clears my mind, it more filters out the stress, anxiety, anger, sadness (basically all the bad) out of my mind and leaves the other stuff. Maybe im just weird, but my mind is racing while im running, its planning, its thinking.. but its positive. its good stuff that left and i feel more together, more peaceful. i love it!
