just for fun: ace of base and scary spice.

I can remember the year of almost any pop song based on two things:
1.) The guy I liked at the time and 2.) What I wore for Halloween that year.

Not sure what that says about me, but here are a few of my favorite song/costume combinations:

1994 -- "The Sign" by Ace of Base // Pebbles from the Flintstones
1997 -- "Truly Madly Deeply" by Savage Garden // Tamagotchi Virtual Pet
1999 -- "Wild Wild West" by Will Smith // Mary Katherine Gallagher from SNL
2002 -- "The Middle" by Jimmy Eat World // 1920's Flapper Girl
2006 -- "SexyBack" by Justin Timberlake // Scary Spice

I like to think that it all adds up to a pattern with some sort of deep meaning, but the truth is that I just have a ridiculous passion for pop culture and a strange knack for memorizing song years. And, well, doesn't everyone remember their yearly Halloween costumes?

Oh, and the Tinkerbell costume pictured above remains my favorite Halloween costume to date. My mom is quite possibly the best costume creator--not pictured are some seriously trendy Keds that she covered completely in green and gold glitter. (I wore them for weeks.)

Do you have a favorite costume of all-time?
(Bonus points if you remember a song from that year!)

Happy (Almost) Halloween! :)

Oh Laura...I frequently forget what I had for breakfast...how shall I ever remember what song came out the year I was...wait for it...

Cake Lyrics. Yup...weird..obscure.

My two best friends and I printed out a bunch of weird Cake lyrics and plastered them all over our bodies, examples:

-short skirt long jacket (and we wore that)
-I am an opera singer (one of us wore an opera wig
-she's a open book (we taped an open book to her side
-I'm a dime (I taped dimes to my head
-tickets to concerts you've never even heard of (taped a punch of concert tickets to my back...

it really just goes on an on...and I taped "too much carbon dioxide" and "she's going the distance" to my car.

oh back in the days when I was oh so creative...haha...still am...but didn't have time to make a Halloween costume this year :-(

I've gotta say, this years costume will probably be my favorite!
A song that came out this year, Skyscraper by Demi Lovato.
Do I still get major points? Haha.

ACTUALLY now that I think about it, my all time favorite costume was Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz in 1996.
I was Dorothy, and 3 of my brothers were The scarecrow, the Lion, and the Tin man.

A song that came out that year:
Just a girl by No doubt
