the proposal (part II.)

While I was skipping around town with the girls--all the while assuming that Radley was at work--he was off doing errands and sneaking around our apartment, gathering things together. We had plans to meet for dinner, but in the middle of the afternoon he sent me a text, asking if I'd like to meet for a drink beforehand at a French-themed bar. Francophile that I am, I was thrilled.

When I arrived at the bar, I discovered that it was actually in the middle of a Parisian-style hotel. Radley met me in the lobby, his expression a mix of nerves and excitement, and told me that he felt oh-so-sorry for having to work on my favorite day of the year. To "make it up to me," he said, he'd decided to book a room for the night. Cue the butterflies...

With that, he brought me upstairs and into our room, where I beelined immediately to the window so that I could see the view--something I always do in hotels. When I turned back around, I saw that it was decorated and that Radley was down on one knee, ring box propped open, the widest of smiles spread across his face. My breath caught in my throat.

"From the first day I met you," he said, "I knew you'd be the most special person in my life."

And with that, I squealed, screamed, shouted "YesyesYES!"... and then blacked out. (Seriously, there was so much shock and adrenaline that I actually couldn't remember what happened next! Later that night, Radley had to fill me in on the rest of his little speech... Whoops!)
I was stunned and elated, the joy so pure and overwhelming that I couldn't even cry. I just kept laughing and jumping and dancing around, repeating over and over again: "You just proposed! We're engaged! Holy ___, Radley, we're engaged!" Both of us were shaking so much that we had to sit down to call our friends and family. And even though most of them already knew--(Radley asked my dad's permission back in February!)--it was still hilarious to hear them scream and call out to whoever they were with: "He did it! She said yes! She said yes!" As if there was ever any doubt!

It was more--so much more--than anything I ever could have imagined for myself.
He is more than I ever, ever could have imagined for myself.
And all I kept thinking was: We found each other.
