We spent the weekend in Lakeside for the Chicago leg of the Dave Matthews Band Caravan and it was just... so good. Seriously: so, so good. Three days, three stages, more than 30 bands, and Dave headlining every night. See, I've been to many a Dave concert. (Many as in once, twice, sometimes three times a summer since I was fourteen.) It's become one of the constants in my life--in my summers--and nostalgia sweeps in the moment he steps onstage. He's the soundtrack to some of my favorite memories.
Everything about this weekend just screamed summer: sunshine (and sunburns), tie dye, picnics, dancing, and, yes, even a ride on the ferris wheel. It was the sort of weekend you'd like to bottle up and re-live again and again. And again.
I'm pretty sure that last picture says it all: I don't know that guy on the right, but by the end of the show, he may as well have been one of our best friends. And that is my very favorite thing about music--not just how it brings us closer to ourselves, but how it brings all of us together, too.

love outdoor concerts
I've only been to one outdoor concert before, but it was fun. It wasn't quite like that, since it was more of a outdoor audortorium thing, but still.
And I love the Dave Matthews Bnad! Very cool that you saw them live.
Love, Love, Love, Dave Mathews band!
Your smiles are infectious. And I see a whole lot of Kate Middleton in your face--that, I hope, comes as a compliment.
Oooh, DMB, what nostalgia! Recently while having lunch with my boss, she revealed to me that she saw DMB in concert back in some hole-in-the-wall sort of bar in Virginia, many moons ago. How cool is that?!
