summertime chi.

This past weekend held everything I love about summertime in Chicago: outdoor concerts, afternoon picnics, and (of course) the beach. On Friday we saw OneRepublic at Lincoln Park Zoo--part of the "Jammin' at the Zoo" series--and, once again, their live show was absolutely incredible. One of the best. Not to mention the set-up: it was like a backyard concert, intimate and carefree, the air glowing with lighters and cell phones and, yes, even some fireflies. It was the sort of night you step out of, right as you're living it, so that you can commit even the tiniest details to memory. Oh, and did I mention they covered Adele? Seriously. So. Good.

Saturday I went to a birthday party on the beach, bringing me back to my San Diego days, and I couldn't help but feel giddy when I realized that I'd be back on the west coast--back near the ocean again--in a matter of weeks. There's just something about the sand, the water, the line of the horizon, that feels light and hopeful. And who couldn't use a little more of that in their life, right?

See, there's a reason Kanye raps about summertime Chi.
It's just good, you know? It's just really, really good.

I love summertime in the USA, Chi-Town, Beantown, NYC, STL - I love how every city has their own little spin on summer celebrations - kinda sad to be living abroad during this time!
