because before goodbye, all you see is the good.

Have you ever noticed the way that--just as soon as you know you're leaving a place--all you can notice about it are the things you love most? Well, with our upcoming move to San Francisco, it's as if I'm suddenly looking at Chicago through rose-colored glasses. I'm struck by the pulse of my neighborhood, by the open friendliness of my neighbors. I'm falling in love all over again with my favorite farmers market, my favorite bookstore, the local coffee shop and the corner brunch cafe. And lately, in the afternoons, when the windows are open and I can hear the noise from the streets below, I just think how much I adore this city. How much I'll miss it.

And with all of this nostalgia sweeping in, I thought it would be a good idea to make a long bucket list of things to do before we leave--places to eat and visit, things to try and see. (Fellow Chicagoans, if you have any suggestions let me know!) On it there are lots of fabulous restaurants (of course), plus a handful of cozy bookstores and plenty of outdoor concerts. A museum or two, a couple Broadway shows, a few street festivals. I've included some old favorites and some new discoveries, hoping to experience and re-experience anything and everything Chicago has to offer.

Here's to a summer of (re)falling in love :)

I like that-(re)falling in love. After 4 years in Toronto, I still fall in love with it more and more whenever I see something new, or go back to an old spot, or say hi to a million people while walking through the neighborhood.

I'm living and experiencing this exact thing except I'm moving in 2 weeks and have such limited time in getting to do all the things I want to in that time. In fact I was thinking about this exact thing yesterday, how now that I know this will all be gone from my day to day life soon, I'm finally REALLY soaking it in, and loving it. Moving away is bittersweet isn't it?

Go to Quartinos- it's a fun italian restaurant off of ontario. It's not super expensive but the atmosphere is great and the food is delicious!! Try to catch a few cubs games too :) xoxo

I know exactly what you mean. It happens to me all the time, and while it is a nice experience, it is also a bit heartbreaking.

Can't wait to see the list.

It's such interesting timing right now because I'm transitioning into a new position at work and your title "because before goodbye all you see is the good" is exactly how I'm feeling!
