It's official: I have my Masters in Creative Writing & Publishing :)
And I'm giddy, I really am, because this is something I wanted deeply, so deeply, for so long. This is something I did simply because I wanted to--because I decided that I deserved to pursue a degree in the art I love most. It can be hard to give yourself the permission and the time to do what you love, but how rewarding it's turned out to be, how fulfilling.
It's that feeling of fullness that's swept over me today--the sensation of brimming, bursting with satisfaction and relief and a whole lot of gratitude. Gratitude for the opportunity, for the experience, and for the family and friends who have helped me along the way. (Oh, and a very special shout out to Radley for being the most patient, kind, and wonderful of readers... Seriously, he's read just about every word I've ever written! What a trooper.)
I love this next phase, when it's the end of one chapter and the next one lies just ahead. It's that "on the brink" time when anything's possible, when hope uncurls itself--rises up from a corner of your heart--and the word maybe repeats itself again and again in your mind like a mantra, like a promise.
Here's to wonderful endings and (hopefully) incredible beginnings.
And in the meantime: big thanks to all of you for being oh-so-supportive along the way!

Congratulations!! :) :)
Congrats! It must feel so wonderful to finally be completely done with school!
Congratulations! I hope you don't mind me saying this--especially since I've started reading your blog only just this past year--but I am proud of you. It is such an achievement, getting the degree itself. But what I think deserves greater praise is that you were so completely unafraid of pursuing something you loved. You didn't dive under the pressure of doing something out of necessity but, like all art should be (and, for that matter, degree level education), you did it out of passion for the subject. And that, I feel, is inspiration and lacking so much in this world. (At least, it lacks and pales and shrinks over here, in England).
Congrats L! I wanted to tell you on twitter last night but I knew you were gonna make a post. So proud of ya! I know your relieved and I find it encouraging of how you took that step and did what you love. I would love to get my masters...let me rephrase that...I'd love to have the money to go back. :)

I am working towards my BA in English...yeah, I am 25 and have switched my major like 4 times. no big deal. haha

From a fellow recently appointed "master;" congratulations! Isn't it the BEST feeling? Hope you are having lots of yummy celebratory drinks this weekend :)
So happy for you and feeling very inspired. I loved how you acknowledged the difficulty of allowing yourself the time to pursue what you love. I have to start getting serious about studying for the GRE so I can feel the way you feel now in about two and half years. haha!
