fancy friday (for anna.)

Disclaimer: I have always wanted glasses.

For the same reason I've always wished I drank coffee, I think... Something about looking chic and smart--like that quiet girl who rides an old school bicycle to the bookstore and then roams the aisles for hours, poring over pages from Franzen and Vonnegut. And, of course, being friends with Anna, I get to see how adorable her glasses are on a regular basis.

(Cue the specs envy.)

So when I was rummaging through our closet yesterday and discovered the glasses that Radley wore for Halloween this year, I had this giddy urge to try them on. And so I did. And then I wore them for the rest of the day, fancying myself an oh-so-cool, vintage-wearing artsy chick of sorts.

And then--naturally--I read some Vonnegut.
And by Vonnegut, I mean InStyle.

Ahh! Those glasses look great on you...I want some glasses like that...I am trying to find a cheap pair that will actually look good on my face.

And I love Anna's blog as well. I have a friend down here in MS named Anna Allen too. :)

Those are adorable on you! I wore "fake" glasses my senior year of high school in an effort to look like a serious journalist... oh how silly! Now I wear real glasses, and you know what? I still love them! :)

hee hee. I love letting our little nerdy quirks out. I have reading glasses but sometime I'll "forget" to take them off and wear them around all day :-)

and I like coffee because I forced myself to drink it until I liked it.

Oh the silly things we do to fit into the stereotype of "english girl"

but I kinda adore you just the way you are, just fyi.

the other day I was reading a new David Sedaris essay, which happened to be published in the New Yorker. Like you, I was really pleased with how I looked on the train!

Serious cultural commentary ... and by that I mean laugh out loud essay with bad words in it.

I've worn glasses from the young age of 4 ... and growing up I hated them but last year I found a rockin pair of specs red with tiger print on the sides and let me say they make me feel so special and good. You look cute lady!!! Sending you warm hugs this weekend! xo

Hahahaha, love the line "And by Vonnegut, I mean InStyle."

I wore contacts starting around age 15, but I've been wearing glasses for about a year now. I want to switch back to contacts! You look chic in glasses. I look gawky.

Cute! Those look good on you!
I, as you can see from my pic, wear glasses, and have been looking forever to find new ones that are 'cool' like that!

They looks really cute!! Here's hoping your eye sight gets bad so you need real ones! LOL - or maybe not!
And I don't coffee either as I just don't like the taste. But like you I really wish I did!

I absolutely love those glasses! Next time it's time for me to get new glasses I might have to look for something similar.

PS - you are SO pretty :)

oh man, I wish those were the real deal, 'cause you totally pull them off! how adorable.

p.s. in second grade, I bent paper clips out of shape and put them over my teeth. I told my teacher I had braces.

laura, i dont know what is it about eyeglasses that i've also wanted to wear them since i was a kid..last year (late Sept) i bought a pair of chocolate brown specs just to make me feel (and look) cool...October came and i found myself sitting in an optical clinic having my eyes checked...and yep, i was diagnosed with mild astigmatism...so now i wear eyeglasses for a "greater" purpose..not just because i wanted to update my style but also to prevent blindness..hahaha..
