because she's the coolest BFF ever.

As promised, today I'll share the real awesomeness of my weekend.

So I'm sitting at home late on Saturday night, writing my little life away, when a friend texts me: "Unless Emily Giffin knows another Laura and Radley, I'm pretty sure she just wrote about you two in her Facebook status."

Well, if you've been reading for a while, you know that Emily and I became friends when I met her back in 2009 and that I've adored her ever since. (Understatement of the century--She's legitimately the coolest person I know.) So naturally I hopped in a cab and went to go meet her, totally intruding on her sister's 40th birthday party--but of course everyone was so, so sweet. And of course she turned my not-so-great day into a pinch-me-this-is-perfect sort of night. (She tends to do that.)
I still can't believe that this quote actually came true in my life:
"What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though." - J.D. Salinger, Catcher in the Rye

It's crazy when I think of it. Because lucky is having the chance to simply meet your role model.
And really, really lucky is when said role model actually becomes your friend.

Oh, Em. How I heart you.

(For those of you who haven't read Emily's books yet, go run to your nearest bookstore. Immediately. And then you should probably visit her website. And then read her blog. Oh, and then get really, really super excited for the opening of the Something Borrowed movie because it's going to be so, so good!)

OMG! I'm so jealous. I absolutely love her. And, I'm her friend on Facebook... I noticed the post, and the picture that you tagged her in, but I did NOT AT ALL even put two and two together or recognize your face. What a small world!
