the best 3 days ever... but seriously.

It's really rare for me to do a post about all the happenings of my life because I'd just much rather write about universal ideas... but these past few days have been so ridiculously wonderful that I just have to share. Bear with me!

It all kicked off on Thursday afternoon. Cubs vs. Dodgers game. 1st row behind Cubs dugout. Cubs win. I get a tan. Double victory dance ensues.
And then--two hours later--who do I get to see?  Why, the lovely Emily Giffin, of course! (See: this tribute to her.) Went to her book signing. Surprised her in the front row :)
Then we headed to Jack's wine bar. Gossiped. Laughed. Gossiped some more.

And I remembered why we're soul sisters. And why she means so much to me. And why I love writing.
Saturday: Ran the Soldier Field 10 Mile!  Reached my time goal. Met some friends along the way. Remembered how challenges serve as the best inspiration.
Oh, and remembered why I love my parents. (Nerdy matching t-shirts pretty much says it all.)

And now it's Sunday morning--the calm after the storm--and I'm just brimming with gratitude. For summer sun, for treasured friendships, and for good health.

Dear Memorial Day weekend,
You're not even over and already you've been a seriously legit summer kickoff.

Congrats on the run!!! I have to ask, does your mom have a stash of orange shirts just laying around? They look vaguely familiar to the Disney World shirts we had many, many years ago...

Can't wait to see you in less than a few days!
